The Kinglake Ranges Rebuilding Advisory Centre & Community Facility is located adjacent to the Kinglake Temporary Village, marking the entry to the Kinglake township. As for the Marysville project, government and construction industry representatives provided expert advice on finance, insurance, fire standards and construction from the centre. After the rebuilding period the building the building was handed over to the local community for use as an Adult Education Centre. The centre acts as a demonstration of bushfire resistant construction using standard materials. It has been built to the recently updated Australian Standard for buildings in bushfire zones to a ‘bushfire attack level’ of BAL29 â this incorporates the use of fire-resistant building materials including timbers, ember-proof detailing including the limiting of all construction gaps to a maximum of 2mm.
