Kinglake Ranges Rebuilding and Advisory Centre.

The Kinglake Ranges Rebuilding Advisory Centre was constructed following the 2009 Black Saturday fires. Within the building, government and construction industry representatives provided expert advice on finance, insurance, fire standards and construction to guide rebuilding in the Kinglake Ranges. At the completion of the Victorian Bushfire and Reconstruction Authority’s operations the building was handed over to the Murrindindi Shire for use as a Community Facility then transferred to Parks Victoria. The centre acts as a demonstration of bushfire resistant construction using standard materials. It was built to the Australian Standard for buildings in bushfire zones to a ‘bushfire attack level’ of BAL29.“ It incorporates fire-resistant building materials including timbers, ember-proof detailing including the limiting of all construction gaps to a maximum of 2mm.
